HIPRA dedicates 15% of its annual turnover to R&D activities that concentrate on the creation and application of the latest scientific advances to the development of the highest quality innovative vaccines. To give added value to its vaccination experience, the company also develops medical devices and traceability services.

 

We currently have a new R&D Management vacancy to lead the new operational management unit for the Animal & Human Health divisions.

 

We are looking for professionals who:

  • Hold a higher education degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related fields; a Master’s/PhD will be valued, as well as training in project management or a Postgraduate degree in Management of Scientific or Technical Organizations or similar.
  • Bring at least 7 years of experience in R&D environments or scientific laboratories, including at least 3 years leading teams, managing projects and technical resources.
  • Have worked in regulated laboratories, with solid knowledge of GLP, GCP, biosafety and quality standards.
  • Have experience or interest in laboratory digitalization, LIMS, automation, data integrity or advanced analytics (including AI).
  • Are capable of coordinating cross-functional projects, prioritizing resources and maintaining a high level of scientific quality.
  • Provide solutions in complex situations, with critical thinking, strategic vision and results orientation.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Drive the development of their team, ensuring training, support and professional growth.
  • Enjoy working in dynamic, collaborative environments with direct impact on scientific research.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and technically supervise team projects, ensuring quality, necessary training and consideration of critical factors in decision-making.
  • Manage the team: resource allocation, project prioritization, needs detection and participation in selection, onboarding and talent development processes.
  • Ensure achievement of annual objectives, providing solutions to situations that may jeopardize them.
  • Define and manage the area’s budget, monitor deviations and align with the R&D Management.
  • Define, prioritize and drive cross-functional projects, ensuring execution within established timelines and costs.
  • Approve and oversee investments in new facilities, scientific equipment, automation and laboratory modernization.
  • Guarantee availability, suitability and maintenance of all scientific equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (GLP, GCP, biosafety and other applicable regulations) and safe, efficient processes.
  • Promote laboratory digitalization, including LIMS, automation, artificial intelligence and data analytics.
  • Coordinate data integrity, document management and global information flows.
  • Supervise shared processes and operational workflows across laboratories, ensuring consistency, efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Provide strategic support to researchers, enabling optimized processes, appropriate tools and a safe, innovative environment.
